South African govt tough on immigration services

South Africa’s Department of Home Affairs says it will recruit 301 additional immigration officers to strengthen immigration enforcement across the country.

The appointments will increase the number of officers from 868 to 1,169, boosting enforcement capacity by 35%.

Meanwhile,Home Affairs Minister Leon Schreiber, said the recruitment will improve the department’s ability to enforce immigration laws and protect the country’s immigration system.

He has also said that the move is part of wider reforms to build a more secure, digital and efficient immigration system, with additional support expected for digital transformation and capacity building.
