Police arrest man in murder of a medical doctor

Malawi Police have arrested a 25-year-old man in connection with the murder of Dr Atughanile Chomo, whose body was found at her residence in Mount Pleasant, in Blantyre district.

Police identified the suspect as Macmillan Mvevula, who was arrested following an intelligence-led operation conducted by detectives from the Blantyre Criminal Investigations Department (CID).

Meanwhile,the MPS says investigators have recovered a Redmi mobile phone believed to belong to the late Dr Chomo.

Police have also collected forensic evidence as investigations into the case continue.

Mvevula, who comes from Mtika Village under Traditional Authority Ngolongoliwa in Thyolo District, remains in police custody and is expected to appear before court
