Govt condemns Doctors murder

The Ministry of Gender, Children, and Disability has strongly condemned the killing of Dr Favour Atughanile Chomo, describing the incident as a tragic loss to her family, the medical profession and the nation.

In a statement, the ministry said Dr Chomo’s death is a major setback to efforts aimed at promoting girls’ education and empowering women.

Meanwhile, the ministry has commended the Malawi Police Service for the swift arrest of a suspect, Macmillan Mvevula, in connection with the case.

It has also urged investigators to conclude their work quickly and called for the maximum penalty under the law if the suspect is found guilty.

The ministry reaffirmed its commitment to ending violence against women and girls, saying such acts have no place in Malawi.
