Malawi to host SADC Ministerial meetings

Malawi will host the 28th Ordinary Meeting of the SADC Ministerial Committee of the Organ on Politics, Defence and Security Cooperation on 16–17 July 2026 at the Livingstonia International Conference Centre [LICC] in Salima.

Foreign Affairs Minister George Chaponda, who chairs the Ministerial Committee of the Organ [MCO], will preside over the meeting.

Ministers of foreign affairs, defence, public security and state security from all 16 SADC member states will attend to discuss regional peace and security, the political situation, and ways to strengthen democracy, good governance and stability.

Senior officials will meet earlier, from 13–14 July to prepare for the ministerial discussions.

The meeting is expected to reaffirm the region’s commitment to a peaceful, secure and united Southern Africa, and address emerging challenges to democratic governance.According to the SADC Organ, peace, security and political cooperation are key to advancing regional integration.
