RSA govt probing strange death of footballer Jayden James

South African police have launched an investigation into the death of national football player Jayden Adams, whose body was found at a home in Cape Town shortly after he returned from the FIFA World Cup.

Adams, a 25 year old midfielder, was found dead in the Schotsche Kloof neighbourhood.

The South African Football Players Union confirmed his death on Saturday, while authorities said the cause of death has not yet been disclosed.

Meanwhile, the midfielder represented South Africa at the World Cup, starting two of the team’s three group-stage matches.

He featured in the draw against the Czech Republic and the defeat to Mexico before coming off the bench in the victory over South Korea.

During the tournament, Adams continued playing despite the death of his grandmother, Marianna, shortly before South Africa’s opening match.

He was an unused substitute in the team’s final game as South Africa exited the competition.

Police say investigations into the circumstances surrounding Adams’ death are ongoing, with further details expected once inquiries are completed.
