Thieves steal electricity power lines
Approximately 350 meters of electric power lines belonging to the Electricity Supply Commission of Malawi (ESCOM) have reportedly been stolen by unknown criminals in Zomba.
Andrew Mwale, the deputy public relations officer for Zomba police, stated that the theft is believed to have occurred during the night of July 16-17 in Kasenda Village, located in the area of Senior Chief Mulumbe in Zomba.
Mwale mentioned that law enforcement officials have informed ESCOM about the incident, and a manhunt has been initiated to apprehend the suspects, who remain at large.
“We urge the public to provide any information that could aid in the capture of those involved in the theft,” Mwale added.
