Wanderers to begin Caf tourney against Tanzania’s Simba

Mighty Wanderers Football Club has been matched against Tanzania’s Simba Sporting Club in the preliminary round of the 2026/27 TotalEnergies CAF Champions League, as announced during the draw held in Cairo, Egypt.

The Nomads will kick off with a home match at Bingu National Stadium, pending confirmation from the Confederation of African Football following an inspection in August, scheduled between September 4 and 6, before heading to Tanzania for the second leg between September 11 and 13.

As the defending champions of Malawi’s elite league, Mighty Wanderers will return to the Champions League for the first time since 2018, when they suffered a 6-0 defeat to AS Vita.

They are set to face a team that has reached the group stages of the competition five times in their last six attempts, including three quarterfinal appearances in the 2020/21, 2022/23, and 2023/24 seasons.
