Police net three men for operating fake pharmacy
Three men are currently detained at Mponela Police Station in Dowa, suspected of possessing essential medical drugs and operating an unlicensed pharmacy.
According to the police, the incident took place at Kawere trading centre in the district, with the suspects identified as Frank Phillip, 27, Holyce Mayembe, 19, and Happy Mayembe, also 19.
Macpatson Msadala, the publicist for Mponela Police Station, stated that law enforcement received a tip-off from concerned citizens regarding the suspects selling medical drugs in their shop, prompting an investigation.
During the search, police discovered a variety of medical drugs, including ibuprofen tablets, Amoxicillin, phenobarbital, magnesium, paracetamol, Aspirin, metrodozole, and 3,000 capsules of indocmethacin and metronidazole.
According to Msadala, the three individuals were unable to provide valid documentation for the drugs in their possession.
All three are residents of Kawere village, located in the area of Senior Chief Mponela in Dowa district.
