Marriage galore at DC Offices: Blantyre people find alternative
The number of people that have had their marriages officiated under District Commissioner (DC) in Blantyre has risen to 25 per month, up from just 3, reportedly due to the process being too brief.
Kondwani Chisi, a spokesperson for the Blantyre City Council, stated that such marriages are an unnecessary expense, and there is a strong desire to implement new laws and regulations.
Chisi mentioned that Malawians will be required to pay K30,000, while 21 foreign nationals will need to pay K150,000, before the wedding can proceed, ensuring that those with grievances do not become upset.
