Malawi forced to a draw against Ethiopia
The Malawi National Football Team played to a 1-1 draw against Ethiopia in a friendly match held at Dire Dawa Stadium in Ethiopia.
Malawi took the lead in the 18th minute with a goal from Babatunde Adepoju, marking his debut goal for the team.
Ethiopia equalized just four minutes before the half-time break, with Binyam Belay finding the back of the net.
Previously, on June 6, the Flames faced the same opponent at the same location, suffering a 1-0 defeat as Tilahuni Fitsumi scored the only goal in the 19th minute.
These matches serve as preparation for the upcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers, which will take place in Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania.
Malawi is placed in Group B, competing against Egypt, Angola, and South Sudan.
The matches are set to commence in September, as announced by the Confederation of African Football.
