Journalist Innocent Chitimbe in trouble!
Chitipa United Football Club has threatened legal action against Timveni sports journalist Innocent Chitimbe over a report alleging that the club’s players are boycotting training while demanding payment of their outstanding payments.
In a formal notice dated October 13, 2026, the club has described the allegations as false and misleading, arguing that their publication without proper verification could damage its reputation and mislead the public.
The notice, signed by the club’s General Secretary, Watson Kabaghe, gives Chitimbe seven days to provide a written response through the same platform used to publish the disputed article.
The club says it would prefer to resolve the matter professionally but warns that it will not hesitate to take the necessary legal steps to protect its reputation, integrity and interests if the issue is not satisfactorily addressed.
The dispute follows Chitimbe’s report published on the same day, which alleged that Chitipa United players had stopped training while demanding payment of their outstanding dues.
However, the club has rejected the claims and is demanding a response from the journalist within the stipulated period.
It remains unclear whether the journalist will respond to the notice or whether the matter will proceed to court.
