15 people injuried in Machinga accident
Fifteen people have sustained injuries, with eight of them in serious condition, following an incident where a minibus allegedly experienced brake failure and collided head-on with a lorry at Chingale Turn-Off in Machinga District.
Wongani Nyirenda, the Public Relations Officer for the Machinga District Health Office, confirmed that all 15 injured persons were promptly taken to Machinga District Hospital for medical attention.
“We have received 15 injured individuals at the DHO. There have been no reported fatalities thus far, but eight individuals have suffered serious injuries,” Nyirenda stated.
Western Kansire, the spokesperson for Machinga Police, mentioned that initial investigations suggest the minibus lost its brakes prior to the collision with the oncoming lorry.
As of the time of this report, no deaths had been recorded, and police are continuing to investigate the details surrounding the accident.
