Kasambala family want no investigation on lawyer Ralph’s death

The family of the late Ralph Kasambara, who served as Minister and Attorney General, has stated that they are not pursuing an investigation into the circumstances of his death.

Emotional accounts from family members were intertwined with government explanations and political examination as the Parliamentary Ad-hoc Committee began to explore the details of the plane crash on June 10, 2024, which resulted in the deaths of former Vice President Saulos Chilima and eight others.

Charles Kasambara expressed that the family considers the matter resolved, citing personal reasons for their decision not to seek further inquiries.

He emphasized their desire for privacy, stating that the family has opted out of any formal investigation and is requesting respect for their stance.

Charles Kasambara also mentioned that mourners had to wait approximately 30 minutes before commencing the funeral service, anticipating the arrival of Chilima.

He noted that he made several inquiries to government officials after the Vice President did not show up, which even raised concerns from the officiating priest regarding the delay.

Minister of Justice Charles Mhango encouraged the committee to investigate any potential links between Kasambara’s death on June 7, 2024, and the plane crash that took Chilima’s life three days later.

The Committee has planned public hearings from June 15 to July 1, 2026, during which various witnesses will be called to aid in the investigation into the events surrounding the June 10, 2024 crash.
