Activist Namiwa charged with treason

CDEDI’s executive director, Slyvester Namiwa, has been formally charges of treason and the dissemination of false news that could incite public alarm.

Chief Resident Magistrate Austin Banda announced the charges in Lilongwe just moments ago.

Namiwa is alleged to have committed these offenses during a July interview with Luntha TV this year that Vice President Jane Ansah would rule this country within two months.

The Court has now referred Namiwa to the High Court for additional proceedings.
