”Don’t be pompous”- Musician Tay Grin told

One of the leading Hip Hop artists in Malawi, Tay Grin, has stirred controversy with a Facebook post regarding Sigelege Beach Resort in Salima. This sparked a heated exchange on social media with Ramy Waheed, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the African Tourism Board.

Tay Grin, who serves as Malawi’s Cultural Ambassador, posted a status on his official Facebook page stating, “Sigelege in Salima is boring,” while tagging the location of the Resort. He was enjoying time at Sigelege Beach Resort with his friend, South African model Bucie Palesa.

However, Waheed did not take kindly to this and responded sharply, criticizing Tay Grin as someone who lacks common sense and communication skills.

Criticized.

In his pointed reply, Waheed mocked Tay Grin for misspelling the name of Sigelege Beach Resort.

Part of Waheed’s Facebook post read: “Dear Tay Grin, First, learn how to spell the name of the Resort correctly before you go public with nonsense. Basic respect. Second, Sigelege Beach Resort is not boring. Get your facts straight….”
This prompted a further cold response from the musician:

“Hospitality, not hostility. If we want Malawi’s tourism industry to thrive, we must demand better service, greater professionalism, and respect for every guest. No to bad service. Yes to WORLD CLASS hospitality.”

It was reported that Tay Grin was barred by the management of Sigelege Beach Resort from bringing in beers from outside to their bar.
