Malawi earns lifeline in HIV/AIDS fight
United States Ambassador to Malawi Jonathan Fisher has said Malawi is among the first 10 countries in the world selected to receive support for the rollout of Lenacapavir.
Lenacapavir is a preventive HIV medicine that protects people from acquiring the virus for up to six months with a single dose.
Fisher said the United States will ensure that Malawi’s healthcare professionals receive the necessary training and technical support from American experts.
He added that about 38,000 people are expected to benefit from the programme as part of efforts to reduce new HIV infections and help end the HIV epidemic by 2030.
