Malawi Police hunting for sex worker killers
Authorities in Balaka have initiated a search for unidentified attackers who are suspected of killing a 22-year-old sex worker named Judith Mdoko after a postmortem showed she was strangled to death.
Gladson M’bumpha, the Public Relations Officer for Balaka Police, reported that the incident took place today in Mponda Village, which falls under the jurisdiction of Traditional Authority Nsamala in Balaka District.
M’bumpha stated that police records reveal Judith Mdoko was discovered deceased in a maize field by a passerby. She was a sex worker residing alone in Mponda Location, Balaka.
A postmortem examination carried out by medical staff at Balaka District Hospital determined that the cause of death was strangulation.
