Henry Mussa appointed Malawi Institute of Tourism boss
Former Information Minister Henry Mussa has been appointed as the new Executive Director of the Malawi Institute of Tourism (MIT).
This announcement was communicated in a circular to staff, which was signed by Acting Executive Director, Kamwana Karim.
The Malawi Institute of Tourism serves as the leading public training institution in the country for hospitality, tourism, and travel management.

“I am writing to inform all staff members that the Government of Malawi (GoM), through the MIT Board of Trustees, has appointed Mr. Henry Mussa as the Executive Director of the Malawi Institute of Tourism. This appointment will take effect on 7th July 2026,” the memo states.
Mussa assumes this position at a time when the government is actively working to rejuvenate the tourism sector as a vital component of economic growth.
He served as the legislator representing the Chiradzulu East constituency from 1999 to 2019.
During that time he also held multiple senior ministerial portfolios under previous administrations, including Minister of Industry, Trade and Tourism; Minister of Information and Communications Technology; and Minister of Labour.Deputy Minister:
