“Bed for Bob” Wanderers have their man in Patrick
Mighty Wanderers FC has reportedly appointed veteran tactician Patrick mabedi Mabedi as head coach.
The appointment comes just hours after Wanderers suffered a 2-1 defeat to Ekhaya FC in the Airtel Top 8 final, and with less than a week to go before their crucial CAF Champions League preliminary round clash against Tanzanian giants Simba SC.

It is said to be a swift action after the team suspended Bob Mpinganjira and meant to stabilize the technical bench and restore confidence ahead of the continental assignment.
Mabedi, a former Malawi national football team and Wanderers defender, returns to the Lali Lubani Road outfit after previous stints with Tanzania’s Singida Big Stars, and most recently as assistant coach of the Malawi National Team.
He is expected to be unveiled to players, according to reports.
Wanderers will face Simba SC in the first leg of the CAF Champions League preliminary round in Dar es Salaam before the return leg will be played at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe from next week.
The appointment follows growing pressure on the Nomads after the loss to Ekhaya exposed defensive frailties and a lack of cutting edge in attack.
Supporters have been calling for a proven coach to guide the team through what is expected to be a tough tie against Simba, 2023 CAF Champions League semi-finalists.
Wanderers have not progressed past the preliminary round of the CAF Champions League since 2018.
