Malawi women’s team get emotional boost

The Football Association of Malawi (FAM) President Fleetwood Haiya, has encouraged the Scorchers as they continue their preparations at Chiwembe in Blantyre ahead of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.

Haiya said he will continue to motivate the players so that they are fully prepared to perform well at the tournament.

He added that FAM remains committed in supporting the team throughout its build-up to the continental tournament.

Meanwhile, Scorchers captain Tabitha Chawinga, said the team is ready to compete and has urged Malawians to expect great things from the squad.

Malawi will face Nigeria, Zambia and Egypt in Group C at the tournament.
