Malawi receives second hand balls from Japan

The Government of Japan has officially presented 36 second hand footballs, which were donated by the Japan Football Association, to the Football Association of Malawi (FAM).

During the handover ceremony in Lilongwe, Japanese Ambassador Naito Yasushi said that this donation represents the enduring bilateral relationship between Japan and Malawi, a bond that has been cultivated over many years.

He further stated that this act is part of the Japan Football Association’s broader initiative aimed at fostering sports development in various nations around the globe.

Fleetwood Haiya, President of the Football Association of Malawi, expressed gratitude to the Japan Football Association for their generous donation, noting that it will significantly contribute to enhancing grassroots football development and boosting the performance of Malawi’s national teams.

Haiya also mentioned that the association anticipates seeing more Malawian players participating in Japan, which would provide them with valuable international exposure and experience, highlighting Jabulani Linje as an example of a player who previously had the chance to compete in the Japanese league.
